Checkered Almond and Chocolate Sweet Treats
Ingredients
- Almond Flour - 1 cup
- Coconut milk powder - 1 cup
- Icing sugar - 1/2 cup
- Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
- Soy milk - 1/4 cup (or any plant-based milk)
- Cacao powder - 2 tbsp
- Coconut oil - 2 tbsp
Preparation
In a mixing bowl, combine almond flour, coconut milk powder, icing sugar, cardamom powder, and coconut oil. Crumble the mixture with your hands until well combined.
Gradually add the soy milk (or plant-based milk) and knead the mixture into a dough. Ensure the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
If making both almond and chocolate dough, divide the main mixture into two portions. Add cacao powder to one of the portions and knead until the chocolate dough is well mixed.
Roll each portion of dough separately into logs. Make sure they are of equal size and square in shape.
Place strips of dough on a piece of foil or baking sheet, alternating between white and chocolate strips. Press the strips gently together to create a checkered effect.
Repeat the layering process to form a second layer of checkered strips. This will enhance the checkered pattern.
Carefully wrap the assembled log in cling wrap and place it in the refrigerator for about half an hour. This will help the dough to set and make it easier to cut.
To achieve an even design, measure the strips of dough carefully when layering.
After chilling, remove the log from the refrigerator and unwrap it. Cut the log into pieces, revealing the beautiful checkered pattern.
Serve the checkered sweet treats and enjoy. These treats can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for several weeks.
