Simple Steamed Cauliflower and Broccoli

Ingredients

  • Broccoli florets
  • Cauliflower florets
  • Water (1 tablespoon per cup of vegetables)

Broccoli seasonings

  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Olive oil

Cauliflower sauce

  • Vegan mayonnaise (1 tablespoon)
  • Onion powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Vegan milk (2 tablespoons)
  • Dried dill (pinch)
  • Vegan cheese (1/4 cup grated)

Preparation

  1. Place the broccoli or cauliflower florets in a single layer in a microwaveable container.

  2. Add 1 tablespoon of water for each cup of vegetables.

  3. Microwave on high power for 1 minute per cup or until desired doneness.

Broccoli variation

  1. Season the cooked broccoli with salt, pepper, and a dash of olive oil.

Cauliflower variation

  1. Mix 1 tablespoon vegan mayonnaise, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 2 tablespoons vegan milk, and a pinch of dried dill to make a sauce.

  2. One minute before the cauliflower is done, pour the sauce over it along with 1/4 cup grated vegan cheese and cook for an additional minute.
