Spicy Steamed Dumplings with Tofu

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs bok choy, washed and julienned
  • 1 package wonton or dumpling wrappers
  • 1 box firm tofu, drained and mashed
  • 1/4 cup sauteed mushrooms
  • 1 tablespoon black bean sauce
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • salt to taste
  • oil

Spicy sauce

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili oil with chili crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese black vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Preparation

  1. Saute the mushrooms until cooked.

  2. Mix the mashed tofu, julienned bok choy, sauteed mushrooms, black bean sauce, corn starch, salt, and oil to form the filling.

  3. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper, fold and seal the edges.

  4. Steam the dumplings for about 10-15 minutes or until cooked through.

  5. Whisk together the soy sauce, chili oil with chili crumbs, sesame oil, Chinese black vinegar, grated ginger, and sugar in a bowl until sugar dissolves.

  6. Serve the steamed dumplings with the spicy sauce.
