Tropical Fruit Natilla Custard

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup Cotoperi strawberry banana puree
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (optional)
  • 1 pinch salt

Preparation

  1. Pour all ingredients into a medium pot and mix until homogeneous.

  2. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon in circular motions, until thickened to desired consistency, about 5-10 minutes.

  3. Remove from heat, pour into a container, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until cold and firm.

Tips and variations

  1. Experiment with different fruit purees such as apple, soursop, mango, or guava to add your tropical twist.

  2. Decorate with a sprinkle of cinnamon powder, a fresh mint leaf, or some lemon or orange zest before serving.

  3. Ensure the cornstarch is well dissolved in the cold milk before cooking. If lumps appear, strain the custard through a fine sieve after cooking.
