Chana Pulao with Spiced Chickpeas and Rice
Ingredients
- 3 cups soaked rice
- 300 grams boiled chickpeas
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1 large onion sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2-3 green cardamoms
- 1 black cardamom
- 2-3 cloves
- 1-2 bay leaves
- salt to taste
- 2 teaspoons cumin powder
- 2 teaspoons coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
- 4-5 tablespoons green chilli paste
- half cup yogurt
- 1 tomato
- 4-5 dried plums
Preparation
Heat oil in a wok over medium heat.
Add sliced onion, cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, green cardamoms, black cardamom, cloves, and bay leaves, and sauté until onions are golden brown.
Stir in ginger garlic paste, green chilli paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, salt, yogurt, and tomato, and cook until the mixture is well combined and oil separates.
Add boiled chickpeas and dried plums, and mix well.
Incorporate the soaked rice and add sufficient water to cover and cook the rice.
Cover and cook on low heat until the rice is tender and all liquid is absorbed.
