Cranberry Cinnamon Orange Infused Bourbon
Ingredients
Infusion
- 1/2 cup fresh cranberries
- Peels from 2 medium oranges
- Slices from 1 orange
- 2 teaspoons Simply Organic pure Madagascar vanilla extract
- 3 Simply Organic cinnamon sticks
- Whiskey or bourbon to fill a 1-liter jar
Cocktail
- 2 ounces infused bourbon
- 3/4 ounce sweet vermouth
- 1/2 ounce cranberry juice
- 2-3 dashes angostura bitters
- Sugared cranberries for garnish
- Orange peel for garnish
Preparation
Infusion
Remove the peels from 2 medium oranges, making sure not to get too much of the white pith.
Slice the pith off of one orange and slice the orange into rounds.
To a clean 1 liter jar, add 1/2 cup fresh cranberries, the orange peels, orange rounds, 2 teaspoons Simply Organic pure Madagascar vanilla extract and 3 Simply Organic cinnamon sticks.
Cover with whiskey or bourbon of choice, filling the jar all the way to the top.
Let sit in a cool, dark place for at least 5 days, or up to 2 weeks.
Strain into a glass jar.
Save the cranberries to make sugared cranberries.
Cocktail
Add 2 ounces infused bourbon, 3/4 ounce sweet vermouth, 1/2 ounce cranberry juice and 2-3 dashes angostura bitters to a glass with ice and stir until chilled.
Garnish with sugared cranberries and an orange peel.
Notes
The infusion captures holiday flavors and can be used in various cocktails.
Sugared cranberries from the infusion are great for garnishing or snacking.
