Candied Walnuts with Cinnamon and Sugar
Ingredients
- 1 cup of organic cane sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp of organic ground Saigon cinnamon
- 1 tsp of salt
- 2 egg whites
- 2 tbsp of water
- 1 tsp of pure vanilla extract
- 1 pound of shelled walnuts
Preparation
Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
In a medium bowl, mix together 1 cup of organic cane sugar, 1 1/2 tbsp of organic ground Saigon cinnamon, and 1 tsp of salt.
In a large bowl whisk together 2 egg whites, 2 tbsp of water, and 1 tsp of pure vanilla extract.
Add 1 pound of shelled walnuts (crush into smaller pieces first if desired) and coat evenly with wet ingredients.
Pour cinnamon sugar mixture over walnuts and stir to coat.
Spread walnuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for one hour. Stir every 20 minutes.
Enjoy these as a sweet snack or over a salad.
