Traditional Turkish Sarıyer Borek
Ingredients
- 1 package phyllo dough (20 sheets)
- 500g ground meat
- 1 onion
- 1/2 tea glass vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt
- Optional: 3 tablespoons pine nuts
Sauce
- 100g butter
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tea glass vegetable oil
Preparation
Cook the ground meat in a suitable pot with vegetable oil until it changes color.
Add finely chopped onion and continue cooking.
Add spices and salt, mix well, cook for 2-3 more minutes, and remove from heat.
For the sauce, melt butter in a pan, transfer to a bowl, add milk and vegetable oil, and mix.
Lay out 3 sheets of phyllo dough, brush each with sauce, stack them, add meat filling, roll into a log, shape into a U, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Repeat the process for all phyllo dough in groups of 3.
Brush the remaining sauce on top of the borek.
Bake in a preheated 190°C oven until golden brown.
