Vegan Corn Hushpuppies
Ingredients
- 6-8 cups of cooking oil
- 2 cups of corn meal
- 1/3 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tbs of sugar
- 1/2 tsp of baking powder
- 1/2 tsp of corn starch
- 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp of garlic powder
- 2-3 Pinches of salt
- 1/3 cup of finely chopped green onions
- 1 cup of cream-style corn
- 1/2 cup of plant-based milk
Preparation
Pre-heat the oil to 350-375 degrees in a pan or skillet.
In a mixing bowl, add all dry ingredients and mix well.
Add the finely chopped green onions, cream-style corn, and plant-based milk. Mix well.
Using a 1/2 inch scooper or spoon, drop batter into the hot oil.
Fry the hushpuppies until they turn golden brown.
Place the fried hushpuppies on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Enjoy the hushpuppies while they are still warm.
