Meat and Vegetable Stew with Thyme

Ingredients

  • 1 kg chopped meat
  • 4 medium onions cut into quarters
  • 1 celery stalk sliced
  • 2 medium carrots sliced
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 2 cups water or broth
  • 1/4 cup fresh green thyme
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon mixed spices
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed hot pepper

Preparation

  1. In a medium-sized pot, heat the oil, add the meat and stir until golden brown, then remove from heat and set aside.

  2. In the same pot, add the onion, carrot, celery, and stir. Return the meat, add the soy sauce, vinegar, salt, black pepper, mixed spices, crushed hot pepper, thyme, and broth. Cover and simmer on low heat for one hour until the meat is cooked.

  3. Place in a serving dish and serve with rice.
