Vegan Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich
Ingredients
- 1 large yellow onion
- 8 oz sliced mushrooms
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 4 oz dried and prepped soy curls
- 4 slices Daiya smoked gouda
- Hoagie buns
- Cashew cheese sauce to top
Preparation
Cook the onion and mushroom together for about 15 minutes.
Sprinkle on the salt and pepper.
While that cooks, also cook the prepped soy curls. The more you cook them, the meatier they get.
Mound it all together.
Top with the sliced cheese.
Cover and cook until the cheese is melty.
Serve with some cashew cheese and enjoy.
Tips
Use a stovetop grill, griddle, or skillet for cooking.
Prep soy curls using a standard method such as rehydration in water or broth.
Cashew cheese sauce can be made from a separate recipe like the user's Mac and Cheese.
