Classic Austrian Hazelnut Vanilla Crescent Christmas Cookies

Ingredients

Dough

  • 140 g all-purpose flour
  • 100 g butter
  • 60 g ground hazelnuts
  • 50 g powdered sugar
  • 2 packets bourbon vanilla sugar
  • a pinch of salt

Decoration

  • 1 packet bourbon vanilla sugar
  • 60 g powdered sugar

Preparation

  1. Knead all ingredients together to form a smooth dough. Shape the dough into a log (about 3-4 cm in diameter) and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill the dough for at least 2 hours.

  2. For the decoration, mix the bourbon vanilla sugar and powdered sugar in a bowl. Once the dough is chilled, cut into evenly sized slices.

  3. Shape the slices into crescents and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between them. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (convection: 160 degrees). Bake the crescents in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes. While still hot, roll the vanilla crescents in the sugar mixture, then place back on the baking sheet to cool.
