Maple Syrup Banana Tarte Tatin

Ingredients

  • 4 bananas
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt flakes
  • 1 puff pastry sheet - thawed
  • 1 tbsp vegan melted butter

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.

  2. Pour the maple syrup into an approximately 24cm oven-safe pan and sprinkle with the sea salt flakes.

  3. Slice the bananas in half and lay them flat side down in the pan.

  4. Cut the puff pastry into a circle and place it over the bananas, then gently pat it down to seal.

  5. Brush the top with melted vegan butter and bake in the oven for 15 minutes.

  6. Carefully remove the pan from the oven, as the handle will be very hot.

  7. Lay baking paper over the tarte, place a board on top, and flip it over to reveal the caramelized banana.

  8. Serve with cream or ice cream and a sprinkle of icing sugar.
