Meat and Cheese Potato Casserole

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons corn oil
  • 500 grams ground meat
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon mixed spices
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 8 medium potatoes
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Preparation

  1. Set the oven rack, preheat the oven to 180°C, and prepare a medium-sized baking dish.

  2. Peel the potatoes, cut them into cubes, cover with water, and boil until cooked and soft.

  3. In a saucepan, heat the oil, add the meat, and stir until dry and cooked. Then add the onion, mixed spices, salt, cinnamon, and cardamom.

  4. In a bowl, place the hot potatoes, add salt, butter, and mash with a masher or two forks, gradually adding milk until smooth and homogeneous.

  5. Place half of the mashed potatoes in the baking dish, then add the meat mixture and spread it in a layer over the potatoes.

  6. Spread the cheese over the meat.

  7. Place the remaining mashed potatoes in a piping bag and pipe it over the cheese.

  8. Place the dish in the oven for about 30 minutes until golden brown. Serve hot.
