Cracked Wheat Jaggery Halwa Dessert

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Cracked wheat (Godhuma Rava)
  • 1 cup Jaggery
  • 3 cups Water
  • 3 crushed Cardamom pods
  • 5 teaspoons Ghee or more if desired
  • Few cashews
  • Few raisins

Preparation

  1. In a pan, add 2 teaspoons of ghee and cracked wheat. Slowly fry until light brown and aromatic. Remove and set aside.

  2. In the same pan, add a teaspoon of ghee and fry cashews and raisins until light brown. Remove.

  3. Put 3 cups of water in the pan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, add cracked wheat, mix, cover, and cook for at least 12 minutes on low-medium heat until done.

  4. Add jaggery and combine until melted. The halwa will look wet at this stage.

  5. Add cardamom powder, fried cashews and raisins, and 2 teaspoons of ghee. Combine well and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes until moisture evaporates and halwa comes together.

Tips

  1. Cracked wheat is an excellent source of fiber, providing 5 grams per 1/4 cup, which is 20% of the daily value.

  2. This halwa is often offered as prasad and is extremely healthy with the goodness of wheat, jaggery, and nuts.
