Easter Extravagance: Spiced Hot Cross Buns

Ingredients

  • 500g all-purpose white flour
  • 275ml almond milk
  • 50g unsalted butter (cold, diced)
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 75g cane sugar
  • 7g instant yeast
  • 11/2 tsp salt
  • topping
  • 2 tsp mixed spice
  • 75g raisins
  • 100g plain white flour

Preparation

  1. Boil the milk and then add butter into it

  2. Set aside to cool until it reaches hand temperature

  3. Beat eggs in a small bowl

  4. Mix the dry ingredients in a big bowl

  5. Pour the milk and beaten eggs into the mixture

  6. Stir with a wooden spoon

  7. Dust your countertop with flour to knead the dough

  10. Cover bowl with a tea towel and set aside to rise
