3 Königsbrot

Ingredients

  • 500g plain flour
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 10g easy bake yeast
  • 60g margarine
  • grated rind of 1/2 lemon
  • 4 tbsp raisins
  • 300ml soya milk, lukewarm
  • slivered almonds to decorate

Preparation

  1. Put the flour into a bowl of a mixer fitted with a dough hook. Place the yeast on one side and the salt on the other and add all the other ingredients. Mix until a dough is formed and then knead for 5 mins if using the mixer or 10 mins by hand. Leave to rise for about 2 hours or until doubled in size

  2. Take 8 pieces of dough weighing about 80g each and form into balls. Into one of them place your king, or you can use a whole almond. Make a large ball with the rest and place on a baking sheet. Place the smaller balls around the central one. Leave to rise for about 30 mins then brush with soya milk and sprinkle with the almonds. Bake in a preheated oven at 180C for about 30 mins
