Homemade Chickpea and Green Pea Burgers

Ingredients

  • 390g chickpeas
  • 260g green peas (defrosted)
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 small red onion
  • Parsley
  • Coriander
  • Salt and pepper
  • 6 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 50 ml bread crumbs
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • Oil for frying

Preparation

  1. In a mixer, add the chickpeas, green peas, garlic, onion, parsley, and coriander. Mix until smooth but with some texture to avoid a completely smooth consistency.

  2. Add the flour, bread crumbs, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Mix until a formable mixture is created.

  3. Add oil to a frying pan. Form the mixture into patties and fry until golden brown on both sides.

Tips

  1. Optionally cover the patties in sesame seeds or breadcrumbs before frying for added texture.

  2. The mixture can also be shaped into small nuggets instead of patties.

  3. Baking or using a different type of flour is not recommended as it has not been tested and results may vary.
