Spicy Thai Relish with Shrimp Paste Substitute
Ingredients
- 1.5 cloves garlic
- pinch of salt
- 1 tablespoon shrimp paste substitute
- 2 birdseye chilies
- 1 teaspoon palm sugar
- juice of half a lime
- 1.5 tablespoons light soy sauce
Preparation
Pound all ingredients in a mortar and pestle until a relish forms. This should only take a couple of minutes.
A food processor can also be used, but best results come from a mortar and pestle.
Enjoy with crisp raw vegetables like cucumber, carrot, cabbage, or serve over hot rice.
