Sticky Chilli Tofu Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pack tofu, drained
  • plain flour
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 pepper, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 5 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp water

Preparation

  1. Cut the tofu into small chunks

  2. Add some 2 tbsp oil to a pan and put it on a medium to high heat

  3. Pour some plain flour into a bowl. Take a piece of tofu and dip into the flour. Then pop it in to the pan. Repeat until all the tofu has been used. You may have to do this in batches depending on the size of your pan

  4. Turn the tofu regularly. Once all sides are crispy and have started to brown, place on a piece of kitchen roll

  5. When the pan is free from tofu, add the onion and pepper. Leave to cook for 5 minutes. Then add the garlic for one more minute

  6. Whilst the onion, pepper and garlic are cooking, make the sauce. Add all the remaining ingredients to a bowl and mix together

  7. Pour the sauce into the frying on with the vegetables and leave to heat up for a couple of minutes.8. Add the tofu and carefully fold into the sauce. Leave for a mother few minutes to reheat the tofu and then serve
