No Added Sugar Spicy Prunes Sesame Jam
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup white sesame seeds
- 2 teaspoons oil
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 cup prunes
- 1/4 cup water
- pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon chili flakes
- 2 tomatoes (optional)
- juice of 1/2 lemon
Preparation
Dry roast 1/4 cup of white sesame seeds and set aside
In a pan, heat 2 teaspoons of oil, adding 1/2 teaspoon of cumin
Introduce 1/2 cup of prunes along with 1/4 cup of water and a pinch of salt
Cover the pan and cook until the prunes soften to a mushy consistency
Stir in 1 teaspoon of chili flakes and 2 finely chopped tomatoes if using, letting the mixture get thick
Squeeze in the juice of 1/2 lemon and mix well
Once the mixture cools, fold in the toasted sesame seeds
Serving and storage
Serve it on toasted French baguette, garnished with fresh chili, parsley, and extra roasted sesame seeds
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week
