Dairy-Free Tofu Yogurt Alternative
Ingredients
- 1 block of tofu
- 3 tablespoons of almond milk
- stevia
- splash of vanilla
- 1 banana or other fruit
Preparation
Blend 1 block of tofu with 3 tablespoons of almond milk, stevia, a splash of vanilla, and a banana or any fruit of choice to create a tofu-based yogurt alternative.
Nutritional value depends on the fruit and tofu used; for example, with banana per 100g: 2.6g fat (mostly polyunsaturated), 6.4g carbohydrates, and 9.8g protein.
Note that traditional yogurt contains mostly saturated fats, which may increase cholesterol and LDL levels, and has been linked to health risks including cancer according to studies like Wang et al. (2016).
Yogurt may help with lactose digestion and provides calcium and protein, but more research is needed on probiotics as not all yogurts contain them.
