Vegan Halawet El Jebn Dessert
Ingredients
- 200 grams Ada’s Vegan Mozzarella
- 1/2 cup non-refined sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup semolina
- 1 teaspoon rose water
- 1 teaspoon orange blossom water
Sugar syrup
- 3 cups non-refined sugar
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon orange blossom water
Preparation
Slice Ada’s Vegan Mozzarella and soak in cold water for 2-3 hours to reduce the salt.
Put sugar and water in a pot on fire and let them boil for 10 minutes.
Add Ada’s Vegan Mozzarella and mix continuously until it melts and the mixture becomes well combined.
Add semolina and continue mixing for a while.
Add the rose water and the orange blossom water and keep mixing.
When the mixture is homogeneous, turn off the fire and allow the mixture to cool for a while.
Pour the mixture on top of wax paper, pat it well with the hands to turn it into a thin layer, then tear it into small pieces and put in a dish.
Chill in the fridge.
Serve with Oriental Sugar Syrup on top.
Sugar syrup
Place the sugar, water and lemon juice in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon to dissolve the sugar.
Once it boils, reduce heat to low and simmer for 7 minutes. Do not cover the saucepan.
Add the orange blossom water and simmer for 1 more minute.
Set aside to completely cool down.
