Khichdi
Ingredients
- 2 -3 cups of brown or basmati rice
- 1/2 cup masoor dal
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 3 green chillies sliced
- 1 tbsp chopped mint
- 6 cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tsp shah jeera
- 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- salt to taste
- 2 -3 Cups of Brown or Basmati Rice

- 1 Cup Chopped Onions

Preparation
Mix the rice and masoor daal
Wash and soak this in water for 30 minutes
Drain and set aside
In a pot add cloves, cinnamon and shah jeera
Add the onions and ginger garlic paste
Saute the onions in a tspn of water until it is browned
Add turmeric, green chillies and mint ant mix well
Add the soaked and drained rice and masoor daal, mix it together
Add 5 cups of water and mix everything
Cover and cook till the rice and lentils are done on slow flame or a rice cooker
Serve hot with tomato chutney and chickpea flour veggie omelettes
