Homemade Hummus with Garlic Lemon and Tahini

Ingredients

  • 400g can of chickpeas
  • 1 or 2 cloves of garlic
  • juice of half a lemon
  • 1.5 tablespoons tahini
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • salt

Preparation

  1. Drain a 400g can of chickpeas and save the water (aquafaba) for other uses, then place the chickpeas into the blender without blending yet.

  2. Add 1 or 2 cloves of garlic, based on how garlicky you want it.

  3. Add the juice of half a lemon.

  4. Add 1.5 tablespoons of tahini.

  5. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

  6. Season with salt.

  7. Blend until smooth.

  8. Serve with chili oil and flakes on top, or use harissa or paprika if available for extra flavor.
