Smoky Oven-Baked Tempeh Bacon
Ingredients
- 200g tempeh
- 1 clove garlic, grated/minced
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/2 tbsp liquid smoke
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- A sprinkle of black pepper
- Salt (optional)
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees and line a baking tray with greaseproof paper.
Slice the tempeh into thin slices no thicker than half a centimetre and lay them on the greaseproof paper.
Mix all the marinade ingredients in a bowl. Using a brush, apply the sauce to one side of the tempeh slices, let them sit for two minutes, then flip and apply to the other side.
Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes, flipping the tempeh halfway through the cooking time.
Serving suggestions
Serve the tempeh bacon in a sandwich with spinach, vegan mayo, and sweet chilli sauce.
