Vegan Bbq Tempeh Sandwich
Ingredients
- 8 ounces of tempeh
- 1/4 cup of barbecue sauce
- 1 tablespoon of liquid smoke
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
- 1 clove of garlic, minced
- 4 burger buns
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup of vegan mayonnaise
- 1 cup of shredded lettuce
- 1 tomato, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
Prepare the marinade by combining barbecue sauce, liquid smoke, soy sauce, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, and minced garlic in a bowl
Marinate the tempeh in the mixture for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to infuse
Cook the marinated tempeh in a skillet or grill over medium heat until browned and heated through
Assemble the sandwich by spreading vegan mayonnaise on burger buns, adding cooked tempeh, sliced red onion, shredded lettuce, and tomato slices, then season with salt and pepper
