Easy No-Fail Pizza Crust
Ingredients
- 1 tsp pizza dough yeast (I use @fleischmannsyeast )
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- Vegetable oil
Preparation
In a large bowl, combine yeast, sugar, and warm water. Allow it to sit for a few minutes until the yeast begins to bloom.
Once the yeast is blooming, add the water and stir with chopsticks until just combined but still shaggy dough.
Lightly flour your work surface and turn the dough out onto it. Knead about 12 times until smooth and soft.
Rinse out the large bowl, add a bit of oil, place the dough in it, and turn it to coat with a thin layer of oil.
Cover with a clean dish towel and place in the oven with only the light on for 45 minutes to proof.
Tips
Dough should feel light, very soft, and a little sticky; add more flour if needed based on flour type.
This crust works well with spelt flour, heritage whole wheat, or regular unbleached white flour.
