Barnyard Millet Idli for Fasting

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups barnyard millet
  • 1/4 cup tapioca flour
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Rock salt to taste

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, mix barnyard millet, tapioca flour, yogurt, baking soda, salt, and water, then set aside for 15 minutes.

  2. Grease the idli mould with oil and fill with the batter.

  3. Add water to the idli steamer or vessel.

  4. Place the mould in the steamer and steam for 15 to 20 minutes.

  5. Remove the idli after steaming and let it cool down.

  6. Serve with yogurt or fasting chutney.

Notes

  1. This idli is made for fasting periods like Navratri using ingredients such as barnyard millet and tapioca flour.
