Kunafa Tart with Nuts

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup ghee
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4/3 cup rose water

Filling

  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1 cup almonds
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 package shredded kunafa
  • 4 tablespoons ghee

Preparation

  1. In a food processor, place the flour, butter, ghee, and salt and run until the mixture becomes crumbly

  2. Add rose water while continuing to run until dough forms, then cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for one hour

  3. For the filling, in a food processor, place the walnuts, almonds, sugar, cinnamon, and rose water and run until the mixture is smooth

  4. On a floured surface, place the dough and using a rolling pin, roll out the dough until thin, then using a round cookie cutter larger than the cupcake mold size, cut the dough and place it in the mold to take the shape

  5. Distribute the filling over the dough in the mold

  6. In a bowl, place the shredded kunafa and ghee, mix, and spread the kunafa over the tart

  7. Place the tart in the oven at 180°C until golden brown

  8. Spread the syrup over the tart and garnish with pistachios
