Homemade Brazilian Meat Esfihas
Ingredients
Dough
- 1 kg all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons margarine
- 1/2 tablespoon salt
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 cups milk
- 50 g active dry yeast
Filling
- 1 kg ground beef
- chopped onion
- chopped seeded tomatoes
- black pepper
- salt
Preparation
Dough
Place yeast, sugar, and salt in a bowl and mix well until the yeast dissolves
Add warm milk and margarine, stirring well
Gradually add flour, mixing continuously
Place the dough on a floured surface and knead until bubbly
Divide the dough into small balls and let rise for 30 to 40 minutes
Filling
Mix all filling ingredients
Let the filling sit in a strainer for 30 minutes to drain excess liquid
Assembly
Roll out the balls, place a spoonful of filling, and fold into triangles
Baking
Place in a greased and floured pan and let rise until doubled in volume
Brush with egg yolk and oil mixture and bake until golden
