Brazilian Meat Stuffed Pastries
Ingredients
Dough
- about 1 kg all-purpose flour
- 250 ml water
- 250 ml milk
- 125 ml oil
- 2 packets dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
Filling
- 1 kg ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
- fresh herbs (such as parsley and scallions), to taste
For brushing
- 1 egg yolk, beaten
Preparation
Combine yeast, sugar, and salt in a bowl
Add warm water, milk, and oil; mix well
Gradually add flour until the dough pulls away from the hands
Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes
Cover and let rise for 20 minutes
While the dough rises, sautΓ© ground beef with onion, salt, pepper, and fresh herbs until well dried
Preheat oven to 180Β°C (350Β°F)
Shape the dough into small pastries
Brush with beaten egg yolk
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown
Tips
You may not need all the flour; add only until the dough is no longer sticky
Cook the filling until very dry to prevent soggy pastries
