Brazilian Cheese and Ham Snack Rolls

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • salt to taste
  • 1 egg yolk for brushing

Filling

  • about 300 grams sliced ham
  • 400 grams shredded mozzarella cheese

Preparation

  1. Mix the yeast, sugar, milk, eggs, oil, and flour until a smooth dough forms that pulls away from the hands; knead for 20 to 30 minutes for better rising

  2. Place the dough in a bowl covered with plastic wrap in a warm spot and let rest for 1 hour

  3. Cut the ham slices in half and set aside

Assembly

  1. After the resting period, divide the dough into four parts

  2. Sprinkle a small amount of flour on a clean work surface

  3. Roll out one portion of dough into a rectangle using a rolling pin

  4. Cut the dough rectangle into small strips and place ham and cheese in the center of each strip

  5. Seal the ends of each roll to prevent the cheese from leaking out

  6. Arrange the rolls on a greased and floured baking sheet and brush with egg yolk

  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 180Β°C until golden brown
