Cream-Filled Galash Tart

Ingredients

  • 1/2 packet filo pastry
  • 1/4 cup corn oil
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Filling

  • 2 tablespoons starch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup qaymak
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon rose water

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C and set the middle rack. Prepare small muffin tins.

  2. In a bowl, place the oil, butter, and vanilla, and prepare a wide brush.

  3. Brush the pastry sheets with the butter and oil mixture to make about 4 layers, cut into 6x6 cm squares, and place in the tins to cover the bottom and sides, leaving a hollow in the middle.

  4. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Let cool before serving.

  5. For the filling: In a small pot, mix the starch and water until the starch dissolves, then add the qaymak and sugar, and use a small whisk to mix until well combined.
