Pistachio Warbat Pastry
Ingredients
- 1 packet filo pastry
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup corn oil
Filling
- 1/2 cup ground pistachio
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon rose water or orange blossom water
- 1 tablespoon syrup
Preparation
Heat the oven to 200°C and prepare a shallow baking tray.
In a small bowl or measuring cup, combine the melted butter and corn oil.
In a deep bowl, mix the ground pistachio, sugar, rose water, and syrup for the filling until well combined.
Place a piece of parchment paper on the table. Take a sheet of filo dough and brush it with the butter mixture. Add another sheet and brush it, repeating until you have 6 layers.
Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough into 6x6 cm squares.
Fold the squares into triangles and place them in the baking tray.
Bake in the oven until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and immediately drizzle with some syrup; allow to cool.
Using a small spoon, stuff the warbat with the pistachio filling.
Arrange on a serving dish, drizzle with more syrup, and serve.
