Aleppo Pistachio Warbah Pastry
Ingredients
- 1 packet filo dough or baklava dough
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup corn oil
Filling
- 1/2 cup ground Aleppo pistachio
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon rose water or orange blossom water
- 1 tablespoon syrup or attar
Preparation
Heat the oven to 200°C and prepare a shallow baking tray
In a small bowl or measuring cup, mix the butter and oil
For the filling, in a deep bowl combine the pistachio, sugar, rose water, and syrup, and mix with a spoon until blended
Place a piece of parchment paper on the table, take a sheet of dough, brush it with the butter mixture, add another sheet and brush it, and repeat to get six layers
Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough into six by six centimeter squares
Fold the squares into triangles and place them in the tray
Bake in the oven until golden brown
Remove from the oven and immediately drizzle with syrup, then let cool
Using a small spoon, fill the warbah with the pistachio filling
Place on a serving dish, drizzle with more syrup, and serve
