Smooth Eid Ma'amoul Pastry
Ingredients
Dough
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, soft
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon rose water
Filling
- 1/2 cup finely ground pistachios
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon orange blossom water
- 3 tablespoons sugar syrup
For serving
- powdered sugar
Preparation
In a bowl, combine all dough ingredients and mix until a smooth dough forms, then chill for at least 30 minutes
In another bowl, mix all filling ingredients until well combined
Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper
Shape the dough into balls, flatten each, add a spoonful of filling, and seal to form cookies, using a ma'amoul mold if available
Place shaped cookies on the baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until lightly golden
Remove from oven and let cool, then dust with powdered sugar before serving
