Georgian Rose Cookies

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup fine grain sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup dried rose

Sugar sauce

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rose water

Decoration

  • Dried rose petals
  • A little red food coloring

Preparation

  1. Place the oven rack in the middle and preheat the oven to 180°C.

  2. Prepare shallow baking trays and line them with parchment paper.

  3. In a food processor, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, butter, egg, and a few drops of rose water. Blend on medium speed until a smooth dough forms. Add dried rose and blend for a few seconds to mix.

  4. Place the dough on parchment paper, shape it into a cylinder of desired thickness, and cut into approximately 5mm thick rings.

  5. Arrange the biscuit rings on the trays, leaving 1 inch between them.

  6. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown.

Serving suggestions

  1. Mix powdered sugar and rose water to make a sugar sauce for drizzling or dipping.

  2. Use dried rose petals and a little red food coloring for decoration as desired.
