- 4/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup date molasses
- 1 large egg
For coating
- 2 cups powdered sugar
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 180°C and prepare rimmed baking sheets
On a piece of parchment paper or in a deep bowl, sift together the flour, ground cloves, ground nutmeg, ground cardamom, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground anise, black pepper, and baking soda
In a food processor fitted with a plastic blade, place the butter and sugar, and mix on medium speed until combined
While the processor is running, add the date molasses and egg
Add the flour mixture and mix until a smooth dough forms
Transfer the dough to a bowl, take about a teaspoon of dough, and roll it into a ball
Place the balls on the baking sheets, leaving space between each
Bake for 10 minutes until golden brown, and let the cookies cool in the sheets
In a wide deep plate, place the powdered sugar, coat the cookies by rolling them in the sugar, and repeat if desired for more sugar
