Delicious Homemade Spice Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon anise
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 4/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup date molasses
- 1 large egg
For coating
- 2 cups powdered sugar
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 180°C and prepare rimmed baking sheets
On a piece of parchment paper or in a deep bowl, sift the flour, cloves, nutmeg, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, anise, black pepper, and baking soda
In a food processor with the plastic blade attached, place the butter and sugar, and run on medium speed until combined
While running, add the date molasses and egg
Add the flour mixture and run until you get a smooth dough
Place the dough in a bowl, take about a teaspoon of dough, and roll it lightly between your palms to form a ball
Place the balls on the baking sheets, leaving space between each
Bake the cookies for 10 minutes until golden, and leave them in the pans to cool slightly
In a wide deep bowl, place the powdered sugar, put a few cookies in the sugar, and toss them until coated with a thin layer, repeat if you want more sugar
Place the spice cookies on a serving plate and serve
