Easy Honey-Glazed Chinese Bbq Pork
Ingredients
- 600g pork collar
- 4 tbsp maltose/honey
Marinade
- 3 tbsp char siu sauce
- 1 tsp zhuhou sauce
- 1 tsp hoisin sauce (optional)
- 1 tbsp rose wine
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp beetroot puree (for coloring, optional)
Preparation
Peel and puree beetroot. Mix all char siu marinade ingredients, coat pork, and refrigerate for at least 12 hours.
Bake the marinated pork at 180°C for 15 minutes, then flip and brush with remaining marinade, and bake again at 180°C for 15 minutes.
Melt maltose in a bowl over hot water, add 1 tablespoon hot water, and stir.
Brush the pork with sugar water and roast at 210°C for 5 minutes. Turn it over, brush again, and roast for another 5 minutes until caramelized.
Notes
If you don't want to use ready-made char siu sauce, substitute with 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce, 1.5 tablespoons fermented bean paste, and 1 teaspoon sesame paste.
