Vegan Seitan Bbq Ribs
Ingredients
- 1 cup vital wheat gluten
- 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 3/4 cup vegetable broth
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
Preparation
Mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl.
In a separate bowl, combine vegetable broth, soy sauce, tomato paste, maple syrup, and minced garlic.
Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir to form a dough.
Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until elastic and smooth.
Shape the dough into rib-like pieces.
Steam the seitan for 45 minutes or bake at 350°F for 45 minutes until firm and cooked through.
Brush the seitan ribs with barbecue sauce and grill or bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until caramelized and heated.
