Ultimate Chocolate Thick Shake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup gluten-free oats, amaranth flakes or quinoa flakes
  • 1 frozen firm banana
  • 1 cup plant-based milk (homemade or organic, unsweetened)
  • 1 tbsp raw cacao powder
  • 1 tbsp nut butter of choice (natural peanut works well)
  • 2 ice cubes
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Optional additions

  • 1 tsp pure maple syrup or brown rice syrup
  • raw cacao nibs
  • sliced strawberries

Preparation

  1. In a small bowl, combine the oats or flakes with the milk

  2. Place the bowl in the fridge and allow the oats to soak in the milk for at least 1 hour until they have softened

  3. Once the oats are soaked, remove the mixture from the fridge and transfer it to a high speed blender

  4. Add the remaining thick shake ingredients and blend on high speed until smooth

  5. Top with cacao nibs for added crunch
