Pretzel Shortbread Dessert Bars
Ingredients
- 10 Tablespoons unsalted butter, slightly soft
- 1 cup + 2 Tablespoons flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg yolk, at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup salted caramel sauce, store-bought, or homemade
- 1 cup chopped pretzels
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 teaspoons coconut oil
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350°F and line a 9x9 inch square pan with parchment paper hanging over the sides
Beat the butter on high speed for about a minute
Add the flour, sugar, salt, egg yolk, and vanilla, then beat on high speed for two minutes until crumbly
Press the dough into the prepared pan and bake for 20 minutes
Allow it to completely cool
Press the pretzel pieces into the dough and pour the caramel sauce on top
Allow it to cool and set
Melt the chocolate chips with the coconut oil
Pour the melted chocolate on top
Top with sea salt
Put in the fridge to set before cutting and serving
