Bakery-Style Turkish ŞEkerpare Dessert
Ingredients
- 250g room temperature butter or margarine
- 2 eggs (one yolk for topping)
- 1 packet vanilla
- 1 packet baking powder
- 1 cup semolina
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- Flour as needed
Syrup
- 3 cups sugar
- 3 cups water
- Juice of half a lemon
Topping
- 1 egg yolk
- Hazelnuts
- Ground Antep pistachio
Preparation
Boil sugar and water in a pot on medium heat.
After boiling, add lemon juice and boil for another 5-6 minutes, then set aside to cool.
In a bowl, mix butter, eggs, vanilla, semolina, and powdered sugar.
Gradually add flour and baking powder to knead a soft dough.
Shape the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Brush the tops with egg yolk, score with a fork, and place a hazelnut in the center.
Bake in a preheated 180°C oven until golden brown.
Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes.
Then, pour the cold syrup over the baked Şekerpare.
