Beetroot Masala Toast with Spices
Ingredients
- 1 medium beetroot
- Oil, as needed
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- Pinch of asafoetida
- Fresh garlic, to taste
- Fresh ginger, to taste
- Green chili, to taste
- Chopped capsicum (optional)
- Salt, to taste
- 2-3 medium boiled potatoes
- Fresh coriander
- Bread slices
- Green chutney
- Raw onion rings (optional)
- Oil or butter for cooking
- Sev for garnish
- Coriander for garnish
Preparation
Grate one medium beetroot.
Heat oil in a pan, add 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1 teaspoon mustard seeds, and a pinch of asafoetida.
When mustard seeds crackle, add fresh garlic, ginger, and green chili.
Add the grated beetroot and optional chopped capsicum.
Add salt and mix well.
Cook for 5 minutes to evaporate moisture.
Add 2-3 boiled potatoes and fresh coriander, mix, and let cool to room temperature.
Spread green chutney on a bread slice and top with the beetroot mixture.
Optionally, add a raw onion ring on top.
Cook on a hot tawa with oil or butter.
Garnish with sev and coriander.
