Mumbai-Style Masala Aloo Toast

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Jeera (Cumin Seeds)
  • 2 cloves of Garlic
  • a small piece of Ginger
  • 1 fresh green chilli
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 small Onion
  • 1/4 cup Coriander leaves
  • 150 g Boiled and mashed Potatoes
  • 2 slices of Bread
  • Butter
  • Green Chutney
  • Sev
  • Onion rings
  • Tomato slices
  • Chaat Masala

Preparation

Making the stuffing

  1. Heat a pan

  2. Add 2 tsp oil

  3. Add cumin seeds

  4. Wait until cumin seeds crackle a bit

  5. Add crushed garlic

  6. Shred some ginger into it

  7. Wait for a minute

  8. Add chopped chilli

  9. Add turmeric powder

  10. Cook for a while

  11. Add finely chopped onions

  12. Cook until onions become a bit soft

  13. Add boiled and mashed potato

  14. Mix everything well

  15. Add chopped coriander

  16. Mix again

  17. The stuffing is ready

  18. Take it out in a bowl

  19. Let the stuffing come to room temperature

Assembling the toast

  1. Take 2 slices of bread

  2. Apply butter

  3. Apply green chutney

  4. Put potato stuffing, onion rings and tomato slice

  5. Cover the sandwich with the second bread

  6. Apply butter on both sides of the sandwich

  7. Toast it in the pan on both sides for 3-5 minutes

  8. Take the masala aloo toast out of the pan

  9. Apply some butter on the top

  10. Sprinkle some sev on top

  11. Sprinkle some chaat masala on top

  12. Serve with green chutney
