Baked Tofu with Sesame Soy Sauce

Ingredients

  • 14oz extra firm tofu
  • 2 tbsp tamari/soy sauce

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup tamari/soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp arrowroot
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1 inch piece of ginger
  • 2 garlic cloves

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F, cut tofu into 8 slabs width wise, cut slabs in half, then slice halves into triangles

  2. Place slices on a kitchen towel, with another towel on top, then gently place a heavy pan on top to squeeze out extra water for 10 minutes

  3. Place tofu pieces on a parchment lined baking sheet and brush with tamari until coated on all sides

  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes, gently flipping halfway

  5. While tofu is baking, make the sauce by whisking together all the sauce ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat for 2-3 minutes

  6. Pour the sauce over the baked tofu and mix with the rest of your dish
