Spiced Ground Meat and Potato Casserole
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons corn oil
- 500 grams ground meat
- 1 medium chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon mixed spices
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 8 medium potatoes
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Preparation
Set the wire rack in the oven, preheat the oven to 180°C, and prepare a medium-sized baking dish.
Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes, immerse them in water and boil until cooked and soft.
In a saucepan, heat the oil and add the meat, stir until dry and cooked, then add the onion, mixed spices, salt, cinnamon, and cardamom.
In a bowl, place the hot potatoes, salt, butter, and mash them with a masher or use two forks to mash well, gradually adding the milk until smooth and homogeneous.
Place half of the potato mixture in the baking dish, then add the meat and spread it in a layer over the potatoes.
Sprinkle the cheese over the meat.
Put the remaining potatoes in a piping bag and pipe them over the cheese surface.
Place the dish in the oven for about 30 minutes until golden brown and serve hot.
Notes
This recipe is prepared in the oven, despite the introduction mentioning an Instant Pot.
