Soft Frosted Lofthouse Cookies
Ingredients
Dough
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon starch
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter, soft
- 1 cup sugar with fine granules
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup sour cream or heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Frosting
- 1/2 cup butter, soft
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 tablespoons milk
Decoration

Preparation
Preheat the oven to 180°C and prepare rimmed baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
For the dough, sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, starch, and salt, then set aside.
In a mixer bowl, place the butter and sugar, and beat with a paddle attachment on medium speed until very smooth.
Add the egg and sour cream, beat well, then add the vanilla and almond extract.
Add the flour mixture and stir to combine.
Shape the dough into 2-inch balls, place on the baking sheets with space between them, and press to flatten into disks.
Bake for 9-10 minutes and let cool completely.
For the frosting, in a bowl, place the butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla, beat with an electric mixer until smooth, gradually add milk to achieve a fluffy consistency, and add food coloring if desired.
Spread the frosting on the cooled cookies, sprinkle with colored candy, and serve.
